The other winners for 2012 are: Landesa Rural Development Institute which helps the world’s poorest people secure land rights, Nidan which gives a voice to informal workers in India and Proximity Designs which makes, designs, and sells products that helps small holder farmers in Burma increase their incomes.

The Skoll Foundation was set up by Silicon Valley entrepreneur, Jeff Skoll in 1999 to support social entrepreneurs in the areas of aid reform, development, deforestation, water and sanitization, economic and educational opportunity, healthcare access and treatment, sustainable markets, food security and post-conflict stabilization.
